  • Scott Anderson
    VP, Global Cloud Advisory and Digital Transformation
    Hewlett Packard Enterprise

    Scott Anderson is the Vice President of Global Cloud Advisory and Digital Transformation at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. In this role, Scott works to develop solutions for HPE customers that enable digital transformation in a Hybrid Cloud environment.  

    Scott brings a long career of experience to this role that provides our customers with the benefit of direct knowledge and a background in IT Transformation.  In his most recent position as Vice President of Hybrid IT Transformation Solutions, Scott and his team developed solutions combining hardware, software and services from HPE as well as our partners to provide complete transformation options for HPE customers.  Prior to that, Scott was Vice President in the Global IT Infrastructure and Operations (ITIO) organization at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, supporting both Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. Scott’s organization was responsible for HPE’s own transformation journey from traditional IT to our current, multi-cloud, highly automated hybrid application platform.  

    Scott was also responsible for building and operating Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s compute facilities around the world including Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s large enterprise data centers in the US.  This role included the HPE Data Center consolidation program associated with the transformation work.  This consolidation effort successfully delivered on the promise of closing hundreds of data centers globally and reducing overall IT spend dramatically. 

    Scott joined HP in 1985, working in IT and Manufacturing for the Optoelectronics Division, part of the Components Group. Since that time he has held numerous roles around the company in data center services, telecommunications, software development, and business infrastructure management. 

    Most recently, Scott and his team played a key role in the separation of Hewlett Packard into Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc.  Hosting Services delivered the infrastructure in support of the separation on time and with budget supporting the overall success of the Hewlett Packard separation effort.  

    Scott is based in Palo Alto.

  • Beth Apillanes

    NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory

    Beth Apillanes is Division Manager for the Operations, Networking & Cybersecurity Division at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In this role, Beth directs a multilevel matrixed organization that manages and maintains the laboratory's core infrastructure, an important enabler in the success of JPL's flight projects and technology tasks. Beth has extensive expertise in operations, project, and program management, consulting, strategic planning, and organizational change management. With a fierce commitment to customer service excellence, Beth has developed and fostered interdisciplinary teams to drive customer-focused outcomes.  Prior to JPL, Beth was Director of Strategy and Portfolio Management and Deputy CIO at The RAND Corporation. Beth holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles

  • Michael Baron

    Mr. Baron is a proven software business executive and entrepreneur whose career spans more than twenty years. He has held numerous sales and sales management roles as well as running a successful strategy consulting firm. Prior to Rimini Street, Mr. Baron held various management roles at Xign Corporation, JP Morgan Chase, Automatic Data Processing, Blue Martini Software, InQuira, SeeSaw Networks and Flexi International Software.

    Developing and executing repeatable market strategies has been a continued theme in Mr. Baron's success, and he has consistently demonstrated his leadership by pulling diverse teams together and aligning them to achieve a common goal. Whether with a Young venture-backed startup or a multi-billion dollar global enterprise, Mr. Baron has flexibly deployed consultative selling strategies that result in highly satisfied customers and strong revenue growth.

    Mr. Baron has led vertical industry segments such as automotive, telecommunications, and discrete and process manufacturing. His subject matter expertise has led to extensive public speaking engagements over the years at a variety of industry events.

    Scott is co-founder and Managing Partner of Diligent Partners, LLC. For 14 years, he held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at another retained executive search firm based in Southern California. Scott is responsible for our firm’s search operations, client management, and sales and marketing. He also serves as the firm’s Information Technology practice leader. He has managed searches for many leadership roles across such industries as Biotech and Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Products, Financial Services, Healthcare, High Tech, Management Consulting, Medical Device, Manufacturing and Distribution, and Retail. Prior to entering executive search, Scott was a founding Principal at Transition Management Consulting, where he led client engagements in Organizational Assessments, Information Technology Strategy, Architecture and Platform Migration. Scott also was a Managing Consultant at SHL Systemhouse (now EDS). At Gartner Group, Scott was a Managing Director in Consulting Services.     Scott is a board member and membership chair for the Southern California chapter of Society for Information Management (SIM), the premier not-for-profit organization of information technology experts, including CIOs, CTOs and emerging IT leaders. Since 2010, he also has been a frequent presenter/panelist at CIO summits across the West Coast for HMG Strategy for whom he serves on its Advisory Board.

  • Bob Concannon

    Bob Concannon was formerly a Senior Client Partner within the San Francisco office of Korn Ferry and was a member of the Firm’s Global Technology Market. Mr. Concannon has over 30 years of technology executive search experience, leading numerous CIO and CTO searches across industries. He also served on Korn/Ferry's Information Technology Officers Center of Expertise. Furthermore, Mr. Concannon led searches in the software and IT communities on assignments for clients in the areas of cloud, mobility and enterprise software.     Prior to joining GSF, Carol served as Chief Information Officer of Dell Software from 2012-2017, leading teams through an IT transformation resulting in a fully automated, simplified IT footprint that delivered significant efficiency and innovation opportunities across the businesses.  While at Dell, Carol was also responsible for the strategic vision of M&A IT acquisition integrations and infrastructure companywide.  Prior to Dell, Carol served as the Chief Information Officer at Quest Software from 2000-2012.  Before joining Quest in 2000, she held IT leadership roles at Western Digital, Coldwell Banker and Pacific Mutual, leading transformational initiatives for both IT and business in all areas of the organizations. 

    With more than three decades of serving in information technology leadership roles, Carol has a dynamic reputation in the industry providing critical insight to innovation teams as new solutions are introduced into the market. She has a proven track record in successful infrastructure, applications, e-commerce, Salesforce automation and customer care.

    Originally from Chicago, Carol has been living in Southern California since 1978. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems with a minor in Computer Science from National University in San Diego.

  • Todd Friedman

    Todd Friedman was recently named CISO for ResMed, a global company that manufactures and distributes medical equipment and solutions for diagnosing, treating and, managing sleep-disordered breathing and other respiratory conditions.

    Todd is a versatile leader with more than twenty years’ experience in information risk and security management. His career has spanned the healthcare, toy, entertainment and insurance industries, during which Todd led numerous functions, including infrastructure planning and management, systems integration, PMO, project management, governance, compliance, strategic planning, and for the past decade, information risk and security management. Prior to joining ResMed in early 2015, Todd was the CISO of Mattel, and prior to that the SVP and CISO of Universal Music Group, the world largest music company.

    A native of Los Angeles, he holds an MBA from UCLA and a B.A. from UCSD.

  • Mary Gendron

    Mary Gendron is senior vice president and chief information officer for Qualcomm Incorporated. In this role, Gendron will lead Qualcomm’s global IT organization, driving operational excellence within the IT function and across the enterprise, as well as collaborating with the executive and business unit leadership teams to ensure Qualcomm continues to incorporate forward-looking technology solutions into the business, products, and strategies to achieve Company business goals. Prior to joining Qualcomm, Gendron served as senior vice president and chief information officer at Hospira, a leading global pharmaceutical and medical device company. Gendron brings more than 25 years of IT experience to the role, with expertise in developing and executing IT and talent-focused strategies, services and plans. She has led complex global organizations, driving proactive business strategies required to develop differentiation and has consistently generated customer, shareholder and employee value. Prior to working at Hospira, Gendron served as CIO at Celestica International, Inc., and served in other senior IT leadership positions at companies like The Nielsen Company, Motorola and Bell Canada Gendron holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from McGill University in Canada.  

  • Todd Gloria
    California State Assemblymember
    78th Assembly District

    In December 2016, Todd Gloria was sworn in as the California State Assemblymember for the 78th Assembly District making him only the second person of Filipino heritage ever elected to the California State Assembly and the Legislature’s only enrolled tribal member.

    A native San Diegan, Todd’s lifelong career in public service was inspired by a lesson his parents – a hotel maid and a gardener – taught him at a young age: if you truly care about something, then you should leave it better than you found it. That lesson continues to motivate Todd to improve the San Diego region and the State of California every single day.

    Todd began his public service career working for the County of San Diego’s Health and Human Services Agency. He went on to join the office of U.S. Congresswoman Susan Davis serving as a community representative and eventually her district director. Having developed a passion for housing and homelessness solutions, Todd was appointed as a San Diego Housing Commissioner from 2005 to 2008. He also served as a member of the Mid-City Prostitution Impact Panel during this time.

    In 2008, Todd was elected to the San Diego City Council. As a City Councilmember, Todd is credited with bringing thousands of affordable housing units to the City of San Diego as well as helping to reallocate the City’s limited homelessness service funds towards results-oriented programs.

    For more than half of his tenure, Todd led the development of the city’s budget as the Budget and Government Efficiency Committee chair. His thoughtful, collaborative, and fair approach resulted in the stabilization of city finances after years of cuts and the restoration of critical services such as library hours. As the City rebounded from the recession, Todd championed increased infrastructure investment resulting in hundreds of miles of smoother roads.

    During his two full terms on the City Council, Todd was selected by his peers to serve as City Council President for two terms and served as the City’s Interim Mayor from August 2013 to March 2014.

    Todd’s service as the City’s Interim Mayor is credited for restoring the public’s trust in city government. He strengthened the City’s organizational structure and developed a groundbreaking, legally-enforceable Climate Action Plan.

    In the Assembly, Todd has continued his advocacy for increased infrastructure investment and pragmatic and innovative solutions to housing and homelessness. To date, Todd has been able to successfully author, pass, and receive the Governor’s signature on 13 pieces of legislation dealing with important issues such as election reform, housing solutions, and cutting government red tape for small businesses.

    Known as one of the most accessible elected officials in San Diego, Todd remains in close contact with neighbors throughout his District and credits San Diegans for keeping him focused on the issues that matter most in their communities.

    Todd is a graduate of the University of San Diego and an enrolled member of the Tlingit Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska. He lives in the neighborhood of Mission Hills.

  • Patricia Grant
    Head of IT Strategy, Planning and Business Operations

    Patricia Grant joined ServiceNow in March 2017 as Senior Director of Now on Now. She is responsible for creating and driving large-scale programs that showcase how ServiceNow uses its own Now PlatformTM to improve productivity, business velocity, visibility, and the user experience. She also leads internal programs to capture best practices for sharing with customers at the company’s annual Knowledge conference and in executive customer briefings, as well as, providing feedback into our product engineering team.

    Prior to joining ServiceNow, Patricia worked at Symantec for 11 years, serving in a variety of leadership roles in many areas of IT, including Collaboration and Productivity Services, Service Management Office, Business Application, Mergers and Acquisitions, eBusiness, Engineering, and Business Operations. Before that, she spent nine years at PeopleSoft/Oracle and held a number of positions in Professional Services and IT.

    Patricia began her career 24 years ago as a Novell network administrator and desktop support. It was there that she found her true passion for technology and a deep desire for continuous learning. She has held several leadership positions across the board in IT during her tunure which gives her broad knowledge in this area.  She holds a BA in Communication from Ohio State University, a BS in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University, and an Executive MBA from California State University.

    In her free time, she enjoys sailing, scuba diving, hiking and bicycling. She also likes traveling the world and exploring new places with her husband, Paul.

  • Tony Leng

    Tony Leng is a Managing Director of Diversified Search and leads the firm’s Digital Transformation and CIO practice from its San Francisco office.  Previously, Tony was Managing Partner of Hodge Partners. Before that, Tony ran a $1 billion division of a telephone company focused on corporate users and had responsibility for all data services and networking products. While at the telephone company, he was founder and Chairman of its ISP and a board member of its 2 million-subscriber cell phone subsidiary. 

    Tony uses his operating experience from being a CEO, financial background as a CPA and CA, and technical knowledge from the work that he has done for Tech companies to drill down and understand at a nuanced level what his clients are seeking to achieve as they build their teams. He has written numerous papers on technology leadership and the challenges facing technology leaders today and authors a blog, ‘Resources for the Modern CIO” (www.tonyleng.com).

    The core of Tony’s consulting has been with senior leaders who are seeking to transform their organizations as they face a future of rapid change, digitization, regulation, shifting markets, and increasingly connected and informed customers.

Prior to HLI, Scott served as the CIO at RainTree Oncology, where he led the development and delivery of OncoExplorer, a novel clinical oncology longitudinal data platform, serving both oncology care and pharmaceutical industry data and analytics needs.

    Previously, Scott led the global IS function at Illumina between 2008 and 2013. While at Illumina, Scott also led the development of IlluminaCompute, providing key vision and leadership in the development of commercial informatics solutions aimed at simplifying the computational needs of production scale genomic sequencing.
